“I seek the metaphysical essence of landscape: the point where the real becomes atmosphere.”
Diego Forriol is a Cuenca-born artist whose work sits on the suggestive border between figuration and abstraction. Trained in the watercolour tradition, he has evolved towards mixed media and intervened photography, always seeking to capture the metaphysical essence of the landscape.
His work is marked by an atmospheric, minimalist aesthetic, where fog, water reflections and filtered light transform the natural setting into scenes of deep calm and mystery. Inspired by the landscapes of the Júcar river and the light of his native Cuenca, he invites the viewer into a contemplative gaze through series such as “Veiled Forest”.
He has exhibited in galleries in Valencia, Madrid and Cuenca, and his work is present at national and international art fairs.
